Among our final stops throughout Italy, Venezia is undoubtedly one of my favorites.
It's one of the most unique and majestic places I've ever visited.
Our first view of the Venetian islands came while standing on the back of a taxi-boat zipping through the grand canal, hair windswept, and skin gently caressed by the sun and sprinkled with sea spray.
I was in my element.
We departed from our taxi-boats and were dropped off directly to the Piazza San Marco.
We caught a glimpse of the city's famous canal boats (which we'd be hopping on shortly) and the bridge of sighs.
All five of us hopped on a cozy canal boat and travelled through the city streets.
Yes, every street is a canal.
We then got to experience the Piazza San Marco.
If you want to see or be seen in Venice, this is the place for you.
We passed by the beautiful pink and white Doge's Palace, the Basilica di San Marco (which was under construction), the famous clock tower (which actually worked while we were there), and the Campanile (bell tower).
After visiting the Italy pavilion in Disney World a multitude of times, I have to say that Disney portrayed St. Mark's well, but there's obviously no comparison.
Along the left-hand side of the next photo is where we sat and enjoyed some delicious gelato (and fans, it was ninety degrees). There were a multitude of cafés and jewelers along that strip.
Along the left-hand side were a multitude of cafes, little restaurants and fancy bard where you could enjoy a lavish cup of coffee or cocktail.
The next morning we began our day visiting the hand-blown Venetian glass factory on the island of Murano.
I can't wait to visit the beautiful Venezia again one day.
