After a long day of travel, we woke up from our naps to a rainy Florence.
Normally, I'm not a huge fan of the rain, but due to the almost unbearable heat, it was welcomed.

Luckily, Florence was just as beautiful in the rain.

Our first stop was the famous rust-colored Duomo of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore.

I absolutely loved this cathedral, and the amount of detail that went into creating the facade. I especially loved the gothic architecture and pink, white and green marble.

When in Florence, there's one thing that you MUST see. Of course I'm talking about Michelangelo's David that's housed in the Academia di Belle Arti di Firenze. The art school's museum also houses Michelangelo's unfinished sculptures which were equally as amazing to see in person.

Our tour guide was also extremely knowledgeable in the arts and described details about Michelangelo's sculpting process that could give you chills because it was that incredible.

We ate (in my opinion) the best meal of our trip that day, and drank some amazing wine before strolling down to the Basilica di Santa Croce, another pink and green marbled church.

This basilica is special, however, because it is the burial place o Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli.

There is also a memorial and statue outside commemorating Dante Alghieri.

That night, we travelled to a winery in the Tuscan countryside outside of Florence and enjoyed one of the most memorable nights of the trip.

It's safe to say I left my heart in Toscana.
